Gov. Scott Walker unveils major initiatives for the state at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Foundation in Simi Valley, Calif. Perhaps he's going to run for California governor in 2015.
Gov. Walker announces he won't establish an insurance exchange, letting the federal government enforce the reforms that are part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Mayor Paul Soglin announces that he won't veto the city's 2013 operating budget, even though he's upset that the city council increased spending to give another $900,000 to the Overture Center.

Three hunters die on the first day of Wisconsin's deer gun season. Shawn Lemanski of Green Bay dies after falling from a tree stand in Marathon County, and Steven Jackson of Antigo is found unresponsive in Lincoln County's woods and later pronounced dead. Foul play is not suspected. Thomas Stamborski of Milwaukee is found dead from a gunshot wound in an approved hunting area at the U.S. Army's Fort McCoy near La Crosse.

Neighbors on the east side hold a meeting at Trinity Lutheran Church to talk about the death of musician Paul Heenan, who was shot by police on Nov. 9 during an incident on South Baldwin Street. "There's lots of raw grief out there," says the Rev. David Couper, who was Madison's police chief from 1972 until 1993.
A plane crashes in Walworth County, killing the 50-year-old pilot and his 14-year-old daughter.

The University of Maryland announces it is leaving the Atlantic Coast Conference to join the Big 10. Rutgers is expected to make a similar announcement on Tuesday. The two additions would bring the conference, to which UW-Madison belongs, to 14 members.
