I couldn't disagree with Mayor Dave more (Dave Cieslewicz, "The Case for a Democratic Gubernatorial Primary," 7/26/2013). I worked long and hard on the recall campaign, and one of the things I learned is that you cannot beat somebody with nobody.
In that election we didn't have a candidate until the very last minute. We need someone from the get-go, who can follow Walker around and argue the alternatives to his very radical agenda. We need an early focus. We need someone who can organize a complete campaign. We need a positive focus to concentrate the myriad positive forces and groups in the state, who recognize the danger of another four years of right-wing rule. We need someone able to involve the people of Wisconsin at all levels, and we need that person to start now.
