Primate research
After reading the life story of a typical UW-Madison research monkey, I wonder if a majority of the public would continue to support using animals for medical research if they knew the awful truth about what happened to these poor creatures behind closed doors ("On the Death of My Monkey," 11/13/2014).
The article makes it abundantly clear that Eric Sandgren's claim about maternal deprivation experiments causing a "mild to moderate" level of anxiety in primates is a farce. Even monkeys in so-called control groups live in a state of constant terror, from birth to death.

GAB attack
The people of Wisconsin are fortunate to have Kevin Kennedy overseeing the Government Accountability Board ("Why Robin Vos Is Gunning for Kevin Kennedy," 11/6/2014). His experience is internationally recognized, and he is committed to impartially implementing our election laws. For over 25 years, I worked with Kevin, when I was staff to both Republicans and Democrats in the Wisconsin State Legislature. Kevin was always fair and very helpful. It is unfortunate that he is under attack from individuals who care little about the integrity of our election and ethics laws.
