I feel the need to defend my honor against the assertion by Fred Mohs (Letters, 3/9/2012) that the Edgewater wasn't about the height and density of the proposed building, but about some other issues related to process.
My point in my recent Isthmus cover piece ("What Do We Want to Be?" 3/2/2012) was that the process issues only came up because of the size of the building. The Landmarks Commission refused to approve the project over that very issue, even though they liked other aspects of the project.
And Fred himself was in my office a handful of times telling me that he would back off on his opposition if the developer would shave two floors from the building. If that wasn't about putting height at the center of the debate, then I'm missing something.
